Down-the-line.com/Wrestling. The United World of Wrestling (UWW) has refused the participation of 26 Russian and Belarusian athletes out of a total of 235 participants in the next World Championship, which will be held in Belgrade from September 16 to 24.

According to information received from United World Wrestling, as part of the preparation for the Adult World Championship, an extensive background and social media activity check of the 235 participants from Russia and Belarus, including wrestlers of all styles and categories, as well as their accompanying staff, has been carried out. Of this number, 26 people were excluded.

All athletes from Russia and Belarus will compete under the status of neutral individual athletes, without mentioning their country or using their flag. Also, when awarding these athletes, the national anthems of Russia and Belarus will not be played.
