Efimova wants to open her own swimming school, the champion considers the option with the Krasnodar Territory

Triple Olympic medalist, six-time swimming world champion Julia Efimova on the Loud show on , she said she wanted to open her own school, where her father Andrey Efimov would be the coach.

– Have you decided on the base, the city, the place, the swimming pool?

– That’s exactly what we do. We’re looking at options to the south, so it’s warm and sunny. Krasnodar, Sochi. But in Sochi, unfortunately, there are no such pools yet. Maybe it will open soon. The Krasnodar Territory is developing, the basins are being completed. And I want to see for their future interests.

I heard that a new swimming pool was built there and maybe the Russian Championship will be moved there. I’m curious to see what they’ve done there, because in the plans dad is also asking to open a swimming school.

– How do you see your participation in the work at the school of Efimova? Mentoring coaching?

– Coaching is definitely not mine. I worry more about my father: he is a coach, a very good coach. I don’t consider myself a trainer, although there was a time when I had private training. I even really manage it, but I like swimming more. I can tell you, but I have more to organize this project than to train myself.

My father has a lot of experience. At one time he had many athletes, even when he was a coach in Grozny. Then I appeared, then, when I trained in the USA, they recorded training sessions, took something from there, something from the Russian, European level. When we traveled extensively to training camp, we observed how teams from Italy, France and Australia trained. Everyone has a very different approach, even every coach. But somewhere you are watching something, communicating with someone and gaining experience.

Is it a little more difficult to work with your father?

– It’s always harder when the father is a coach. It’s a lot more pressure… It’s like you’re setting an example for everyone, and he’s setting an example too. Many people still laugh at the fact that I call him Andrei Mikhailovich all the time, “dad” is very rare. When somewhere – Andrei Mikhailovich, when at home – dad. They gave me an example one way or the other. Well, they insulted me a lot more too,” Efimova said on ‘s Loud show.
