Coach of Russian divers in the water – on the criteria of World Aquatics: “We are placed in unthinkable limits”

The head coach of the Russian diving team, Svetlana Moiseeva, believes that the admission criteria of the International Swimming Federation (World Aquatics) push Russian athletes to unthinkable limits.

World Aquatics eligibility criteria are in line with International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommendations. In addition, it is impossible to apply for a type other than the particular. Thus, the Russians will have no chance of qualifying in synchronized diving for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

“We are placed in unthinkable limits, which are shrinking and shrinking and shrinking. It’s not for sports. It is total discrimination. Why an individual application? We have the feeling that they want us to refuse, but we cannot because of the principles of Olympism. It’s too early to talk about something, but the attitude is of course negative,” Moiseeva told .

At the end of March, the IOC announced recommendations on the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions. Recommendations include individual clearance, status neutrality, a ban on team sports, and a ban on athletes associated with security forces or who have expressed support for the CWO.
