Zhurova on World Aquatics criteria: “There is nothing to be happy about here. Obviously, with such criteria, no one will be admitted.”

Olympic champion in speed skating and deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Svetlana Jourova said that there is nothing good in the criteria allowing Russian athletes to participate in tournaments under the auspices of the International Swimming Federation (World Aquatics).

World Aquatics eligibility criteria are in line with International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommendations. Russian and Belarusian athletes may be allowed to compete in neutral status and on an individual basis.

– There is nothing to celebrate here. The decision to participate will be made by the All-Russian Swimming Federation, but it is obvious that with such criteria some guys will not be allowed, there will be filtration. We experienced this with the Pyeongchang Olympics, where most of the team members did not go because of doping stories. On the international agenda, all this will give the impression that Russia has no athletes,” Zhurova told .
