“We recognize the talent of athletes, regardless of their nationality” – President of World Aquatics on the admission criteria for Russians

The president of the International Swimming Federation (World Aquatics), Hussein Al-Musallam, commented on the decision to adopt criteria that will allow athletes holding Russian and Belarusian passports to participate in international competitions with a neutral status.

I would like to thank all those who participated in the development of a strict and fair approach, which we agreed on today, said the press service of the organization quoting the official.

At the end of March, the IOC announced recommendations on the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions. Recommendations include individual clearance, status neutrality, a ban on team sports, and a ban on athletes associated with security forces or who have expressed support for the CWO.
