“The hat will be pink, no options.” Efimova is back!

Three-time Olympic swimming medalist Yulia Efimova is on Loud! with my dog Jasper. And it was a double charm. In an interview, she spoke of her intention to return to competitive practice.

To start, Julia introduced everyone to Jasper. Well, who doesn’t know.

– This is my dog, his name is Jasper, many people also know him on social networks.

– Need a lot of attention?

– Yes, at least two hours – one hour in the morning, one hour in the evening, so that you feel good. You have to feed, comb, walk…

– That is, in one of the Moscow courtyards you can meet Yulia Efimova with a dog like this in the evening?

– Yes. Previously, my trips to Moscow were a bit different. Now it’s mostly parks, I explore other places on my own. I like it a lot: you get up in the morning, make coffee and go for a walk. Sometimes we even go running together.

– We saw you at Spartak football, hockey. You burst into the sporting world of the capital.

– I was often invited and called to various events, but when you train, take part in competitions – all the time training camps, trips. There wasn’t much time. Now, when I arrived, there is a gap during which I still rest.

– Do you feel increased attention? threshing?

– A small yes. Besides, I got a little carried away. There was a certain series of events, I did not want to communicate with anyone, sometimes they grabbed me for a brief comment. During these 1.5 to 2 years when I came into myself, I had to think a lot, rethink a lot. I really missed the competition, the training. I can’t just walk away and separate myself from a career that I’ve built for so long, long, long. I would like to plunge into such an atmosphere, because one cannot feel such emotions in ordinary life.

– What are your launch projects? Russian Championship?

– I still do not know for sure, but really (before that) I need to participate in zonal competitions, where the selection takes place, we plan to go to competitions in the Southern Federal District. And I heard that a new pool has been built in Krasnodar and maybe the Russian Championship will be moved there… I’m interested to see what they’ve done there, because the plans – dad also asks – are to open a swimming school.

– Have you decided on the base, the city, the place, the swimming pool?

– That’s exactly what we do. We’re looking at options to the south, so it’s warm and sunny. Krasnodar, Sochi. But in Sochi, unfortunately, there are no such pools yet. Maybe it will open soon. The Krasnodar Territory is developing, the basins are being completed. And I want to see for their future interests.

– How do you see your participation in the work at the school of Efimova? Mentoring coaching?

– Coaching is definitely not mine. I worry more about my father: he is a coach, a very good coach. I don’t see myself as a trainer, although there was a time when I did a little private training, I even really manage, but I like swimming more. I can tell you, but I have more to organize this project than to train myself.

He has a lot of experience. At one time there were a lot of athletes – even when I trained in Grozny, then I appeared, then, when I trained in the United States, they recorded training, I took some something, something Russian, something European. When we traveled a lot, we always visited training camps and watched how teams from Italy, France and Australia trained. Everyone has a very different approach, even every coach. But somewhere you look at something, you communicate with someone and you type it.

Is it a little more difficult to work with your father?

– It’s always harder when the father is a coach. It’s a lot more pressure… It’s like you’re setting an example for everyone, and he’s setting an example too. Many people still laugh at the fact that I call him Andrei Mikhailovich all the time, “dad” is very rare. When somewhere – Andrei Mikhailovich, when at home – dad. They gave me an example one way or the other. Well, they scolded me a lot more too.

– When can the duel with Evgenia Chikunova take place? Are you ready for this?

– It will be very difficult. I don’t know if I’m ready for such speeds or not, but sport is not only speed, it’s also psychological pressure. But he’s a big boy. When I worked with David Salo, he told me I had to swim 2 minutes 17 seconds. Shown roughly the same layout. At that time, I didn’t believe it was possible, then I realized it was. I worked on this layout and I know how hard it is. She did what I could never do. Will such a result be obtained? I don’t know. But I like racing, competition and I will try until the end.

Have you seen her swim?

– Not live, but later when they called me and told me the result, of course it was interesting to see.

– The main question of our interview is in this swim, when you return, what color will the hat be?

– Of course, pink.

– No alternative?

– No alternatives.
