The first quarter came out productive and fighting. The Lithuanians led by 5-6 points, but finished the segment with a minimal advantage – 25:24. From the very beginning of the second quarter, the Serbs already took the lead and gradually increased the gap.
Svetislav Pesic’s team left for the big break with +11 advantage. In the third quarter, the Serbs added another +7, and in the final segment they were already playing on hold. Bogdan Bogdanovich became the most productive player – 21 points, 4 rebounds.
The Lithuanian team sensationally defeated the USA in the last match of the group round, but the exit from the first place in the playoffs did not give anything to the representatives of the Baltics.
The day before, the Serbian national team lost striker Borisa Simanic, who had a kidney removed in Manili due to complications after an injury received in a victorious match against South Sudan (115:83).
In the semi-finals, the Serbian team will face the winner of the match between Canada and Slovenia.
The World Cup, hosted by Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines, will end on September 10. The final match will take place in Pasay, a suburb of Manila.
