Ukrainian referee Balakin appointed to Euro 2024 qualifier

The Ukrainian referee team will work at the meeting between San Marino and Slovakia

Ukrainian referee Nikolai Balakin has been assigned to the Group H match of the Euro 2024 qualifying tournament between San Marino and Slovakia.

The meeting will take place in Serravalle on 10 September. The brigade will also include Balakin’s compatriots – Dmitry Zaporozhenko And Andrey Skripkaas well as the fourth arbitrator Yaroslav Kozyk.

The San Marino team in their group did not score a single point and did not score a single goal. Slovenia is fighting for a direct ticket to the Euro with the teams of Finland, Kazakhstan and Denmark. After four rounds, the Balkan team is in fourth place with 7 points, two points behind the duo of leaders.

This match is not the first for Balakin in the qualifying tournaments of the European Championships. In 2019, he worked in the match France – Andorra (3: 0), appointed a penalty kick against the guests. He also served two matches in World Cup qualification in 2021.

In addition, the 34-year-old Balakin has a rich European Cup experience. He managed to referee 17 international matches at the club level, three of them in the main draw of the Conference League. Nikolai’s last European assignment was the EL Zalgiris qualifier against Hacken (1:3) on 10 August.
