FBU will hold Ukrainian Basketball Cup in 2023/24 season

The federation has changed the format of the Superleague regular season, making it possible to hold another tournament

Basketball Federation of Ukraine (FBU) announced the Cup of Ukraine in the 2023/24 season.

The FBU revised the format of the Superleague regular season after inclusion in the elite division of Kryvbas. Following the changes, the scheduled number of Super League 2023/24 club matches has been reduced to 30, allowing for an additional tournament.

16 teams will compete in the Ukrainian Cup – 11 representatives of the Superleague and five best teams of the Major League following the results of two rounds of the regular season. “Blind lot” will distribute eight pairs, which in four cities within two days will play the stages of 1/8 and 1/4 finals.

At the next draw, semi-final pairs will be distributed. In a certain city, semi-finals and a final will be held within two days.

The Cup of Ukraine is scheduled to be held from February 1 to March 31, 2024. Two weeks between Super League bubbles will be used for matches.

The last winner of the Ukrainian Cup was Budivelnyk, who in 2021 defeated Cherkasy Mavp in the final. In the 2021/22 season, the tournament was not completed due to a large-scale Russian invasion.
