The strongest Ukrainian handball club will not compete in men’s competitions next season.
Ukraine fans will not see Motor Zaporozhye in the Champions League next season. According to the official website of the EHF, the application of the strongest Ukrainian handball club to participate in the tournament was rejected.
It should be noted that the Zaporozhye team, as well as 12 other teams, have applied for participation in the tournament, but the EHF can only approve 7 of them. The Ukrainian club received a negative response.
The main reason for this decision was the war unleashed by the Putin regime, due to which Motor could not play in Ukraine. Recall that the Ukrainians were declared for the German Bundesliga-2 and temporarily based in Dusseldorf.
Thus, Motor, as well as 5 other clubs whose applications have been rejected, will play in the group stage of the Europa League – the second most powerful European Cup under the auspices of the EHF.
