Figure skater Grassl withdraws from tournament in Germany after reporting anti-doping rule violation

Italian figure skater Daniel Grassl withdrew from the tournament in Oberstdorf, Germany, according to the International Skating Union (ISU) website.

The competition will take place from September 20 to 23. The name of Grassl, 21, does not appear in the competition protocol.

According to RIA Novosti Sport, the Italian left the group of Russian coach Eteri Tutberidze after violating anti-doping rules – missing three doping controls. The 21-year-old athlete himself denied this information.

After joining Tutberidze in January, Grassl finished 6th at the 2023 European Championships and 12th at the World Championships. In 2022, the Italian won silver at the European Championship.
