Massive COVID outbreak hits ISU after Phuket convention – source

According to , after the International Skating Union (ISU) congress in Phuket, many of its delegates fell ill with coronavirus.

According to the interlocutor, on their return from Phuket, “many” delegates tested positive for coronavirus. Among those infected were also employees of the ISU office in Lausanne and, in particular, the personal assistant of former ISU President Jan Dijkema Jennecke Bogerd.

Representatives of the Russian Figure Skating Federation (FFKKR) Alexander Gorshkov, Alexander Kogan and Sergey Sviridov, as well as representatives of the Russian Skating Union (SCR) Ksenia Shantseva, Mikhail Sokolov and Andrey Nefedov, spoke from the Russia at the congress, Alexander Kibalko, elected to the ISU Council, participated in the meetings as head of the ISU technical committee. The ISU Congress in Phuket was held June 6-10. It enacted a number of groundbreaking changes to the rules, including raising the age limit in figure skating, speed skating and short track from 15 to 17, reducing the figure skating components from five to three, and also the extension of the ban on the participation of athletes from Russia and Belarus in international competitions.
