According to the UWW press service, a total of 235 representatives from Russia and Belarus underwent extensive screening to ensure compliance with the requirements of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). As a result, out of 235 people, 26 representatives of these countries did not pass the test and were not allowed to participate in the next World Cup.
It is important to note that two-time Olympic freestyle wrestling champion Abdulrashid Sadulaev was allowed to compete in the capital of Serbia. He will compete in the weight category up to 97 kg.
All Russian athletes were admitted to the 2023 World Cup with neutral status, without any flags or references to their country of origin. They will represent a team of Independent Neutral Athletes (AIN) at the tournament.
