Ukrainians qualified for the final Davis Cup tournament
Vladislav Orlov beat Nicholas Mejia in the final match of the confrontation Ukraine — Colombia in the First World Group Davis Cup.
Orlov lost the first set 5:7, but managed to return to the game and win the next two games. Let us note that the fate of the third set was determined in a tiebreak – 7:4 in favor of the Ukrainian.
Orlov’s triumph brought Ukraine a final victory over Colombia – 3:2. Note that the blue-yellows lost 1:2 in the confrontation, but managed to equalize thanks to Alexey Krutykh’s victory over Daniel Eli Galan.
Yesterday, September 14, Mejia lost to Krutykh in two sets, and Orlov fought to Galan. Already today, Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah beat Ilya Beloborodko and Vyacheslav Belinsky in a doubles match.
Ukraine qualified for the Davis Cup final tournament. Colombia will play in the playoffs to retain their place in World Group One.
The match between Ukraine and Colombia took place on hard courts in the Georgian city of Kaspi, which is located next to Tbilisi.
