Anna Antseliovich noted that from the CAS press release it is clear that Valiev’s defense presented certain demands, including a statement that the CAS does not have the jurisdiction to consider this case. However, she believes it is unlikely that the CAS will admit its failure in this case. Antseliovich also noted that Valieva’s side said no violation occurred and that if there was one, she was neither culpable nor negligent.
Importantly, the International Skating Union (ISU) is demanding that Valieva receive a four-year suspension or a two-year disqualification effective December 25, 2021, with all results from that date void. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) also supports a four-year ban. In turn, Kamila Valieva demands that her gold medal at the Russian Championship be returned and that no results be canceled, because the anti-doping rule violation she committed was not intentional.
