The defender was injured during a training camp in Poland
Defender Zari Bogdan Butko in an exclusive interview Sports Arena spoke about his injury and the estimated time frame for his return to the field.
“This happened in Poland, during a training camp. At first I didn’t think the injury would be so serious. I know that in football there are quite a few cases when there is a tear throughout the calf muscle. This happened during the warm-up, before the control match. I’ve never had such problems, but here it exploded. Maybe age is taking its toll, or maybe it’s a consequence of the heavy workload at training camp.”
“Two more weeks of recovery,” the doctors said. And then you need to get in shape. It will be hard. At least I’ll be able to fully recover before winter.”
The 32-year-old defender has been playing in Zarya since September last year. In the summer, Bogdan extended his contract with the club. Last season, Butko played 25 matches, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
Zarya lost to Metalist 1925 (1:2) and with five points is in 12th place in the UPL. The Lugansk team will play its next match on September 21 against Ghent in the Conference League.
