Porto lost defender Marcano and forward Evanilson before the match with Shakhtar

Serious personnel losses in the Portuguese vice-champion team

As it became known, the main defender Porto Hispanic Ivan Marcano was out for a long time due to injury. The Brazilian striker joined him in the hospital Evanilson.

Both were injured in the last round of the Portuguese Primeira Liga on September 15, in which the Dragons beat Estrela 1:0 away. It is reported that the 36-year-old Marcano has a torn ligament in his right knee (for the second time in his career), and he cannot do without surgery. The diagnosis of 23-year-old Evanilson is not too harsh – “just” a sprain of the ligaments of his left knee.

Marcano has been playing for the Portuguese giants since 2014 (with a one-year break for Roma). For this club he played 254 games, scored 30 goals, and gave 5 assists.

Evanilson managed to play twice this season and score 1 goal, and in total he has 50 effective actions in 113 matches for Porto.

In addition to them, winger Gabriel Veron and striker Danny Namaso are in the hospital for Sergio Conceição’s team.

The match of the 1st round of the Champions League Shakhtar – Porto will take place on Tuesday, September 19, in Hamburg, Germany.
