Roman Kostomarov: “Prosthetics will never replace my arms and legs”

Olympic ice dancing champion Roman Kostomarov On the air of the program “Secret for a Million” on NTV, he said that it was difficult for him to accept the situation in which he found himself.

Since January this year, Kostomarov has suffered several amputations after hospitalization. In early July, the 46-year-old skater announced that he had been released from the hospital.

— When we see legs and arms, what a human body [бывает] perfect – and how imperfect it is now for me…

We must admit that it is now forever. It didn’t matter what they did, it didn’t matter what prosthetics they put in. It won’t replace my arms and legs. You can still live without legs, but how can you live without arms? All life is built on this. I have tattooed on my hand that death is a part of life. “Actually, I was faced with this, and on the other hand I put my initials,” Kostomarov said.

Together with Tatyana Navka, Kostomarov won the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin. The duo also won the World Championships twice and won gold at the European Championships three times. Kostomarov also played in tandem with Ekaterina Davydova.
