Ukrainian athletes urge to boycott the performances of the aggressor country

Hundreds of sports facilities in Ukraine have already been damaged during the war. But athletes not only continue to train in the conditions of war, but also keep the information front.

“It hurts us to look at the destroyed gyms, stadiums and houses. We call on the whole world to support the boycott of the performances of Russian athletes and teams of any status at any competitions while the war continues in Ukraine. We appeal to all athletes, all countries – support our demands, convey the scale of the tragedy to the presidents of your sports federations. We need your help right now, to fight for our freedom, life and peace,” Ukrainian athletes say.

Kharkiv

On March 5, 2022, the aviation of the Russian troops bombed the sports club Unifekht KhNU named after. V. N. Karazin, in Kharkov. As the athletes themselves say, the plane with bombs was flying very low and could not help but understand that it was blowing up an educational institution and residential buildings, and not a military facility.

One of the bombs went through all the floors of the fencing building, leaving this sport in the country without a main center for training.

The Youth Basketball and Gymnastics Center experienced all the horrors of the war when rockets bombed the TV tower next to the hall. Windows were shattered, the parquet was damaged, and the ceiling had collapsed in places.

One of the rockets in March hit a residential building in the Obolon district of Kyiv. Surprisingly, the football field near the house remained untouched, and even now children’s football teams train and play on it.

Gym Forward

Hall, located on the avenue. Valery Lobanovsky, was fired on in February and received significant damage, of which only the roof has been partially restored today.
