Sidenko replaced Voronkov, disqualified for racism, at Lokomotiv Kaliningrad

Previously, the team was led by Andrey Voronkov, who made a racist statement about black Uralochka-NTMK volleyball player Ailama Sese Montalvo and was disqualified.

Sidenko’s coaching career began in 2014 at Lokomotiv Novosibirsk, where he worked as a senior coach, then led the Major League “A” team – “Academy Kazan”.

In August 2017, Sidenko was named head coach of the Russian men’s student team at the World Universiade, where he won silver. From December 2018 to February 2020 he led the Urals from Ufa. In the 2020/21 season he was a member of the coaching staff of Kuzbass Kemerovo, and in the 2021/2022 season – Zenit Kazan.

As a player, Sidenko became the Russian champion (1996, 2007) with the capital’s CSKA and Dynamo-Tattransgaz Kazan, respectively, and also won the Champions League and the Russian Cup in 2011 in part of Lokomotiv Novosibirsk.

Lokomotiv from the Kaliningrad region is the current champion of Russia.
