The first medal for the Ukrainian team at the competition
Ukrainian Vasily Mikhailov won a bronze medal at 2023 World Wrestling Championshipswhich takes place in Serbian Belgrade.
Mikhailov competed in the category up to 79 kilograms in freestyle wrestling. Vasily lost to Vladimir Gamkrelidze from Georgia in the semi-finals, and defeated Bolat Sakaev from Kazakhstan in the “bronze” bout.
This is the first medal for the Ukrainian team at the competition. Ukrainians will be represented in all categories of the 2023 World Cup.
In Belgrade, 90 tickets to the 2024 Olympics in Paris will be played in 18 categories. Four athletes in each category will receive licenses (the winner, the finalist, and those who took two “bronze” places). Additional spots will be awarded between the wrestlers who lose the bronze final.
