Athletistic/Wrestling. Russia’s Abdulrashid Sadulayev, a two-time Olympic champion and five-time world champion in freestyle wrestling, has refused to participate in the bronze medal fight at the 2023 World Wrestling Championships. The world sports legend withdrew from the competition in due to injury.
The day before, September 18, Sadulaev fought with the representative of Bahrain, Akhmed Tazhudinov, in the semifinals. With a score of 9:2 in favor of the opponent, the Russian refused to continue the fight due to a neck injury.
Note that the fact that Sadulayev reached the semi-finals of the 2023 World Cup did not guarantee him an Olympic license. The opportunity to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris (France) will take place in the spring of next year in two tournaments.
The World Wrestling Championships take place from September 16 to 24 in Belgrade, the Serbian capital.
