Athletistic/ Figure skating. President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Stanislav Pozdnyakov expressed his expectations regarding the upcoming hearings at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne (Switzerland) from September 26 to 28 in the figure skater case Russian Kamila Valieva.

“The sports justice system has undergone negative changes in recent years. From my point of view, we can now rely less and less on the fairness of CAS,” Pozdniakov was quoted as saying by the TASS agency.

In the 2021/2022 season, Kamila Valieva became the European and Russian figure skating champion in women’s singles competitions. At the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing (China), a young Russian woman won a gold medal in the team competition, after which she found herself in a doping scandal.

WADA received a positive sample from the athlete. However, this analysis was taken from Kamila in December 2021 and therefore she could not be excluded from participation in the 2022 Olympic Games. As a result, the 15-year-old Russian, winner of the short program, could not face the pressure and only took 4th place in the final.
