FIFA names 11 candidates for the Puskas Award for the best goal of the year

Nominees include Askhat Tagybergen, Sam Kerr and Linda Caicedo

FIFA on the official website named candidates for the award named after Ferenc Puskáswhich is awarded to the author best goal of the year.

11 footballers and footballers have been nominated for the Puskás Award:

  • Alvaro Barreal (Cincinnati – Pittsburgh, US Cup, June 6, 2023);
  • Linda Caicedo (Germany – Colombia, Women’s World Cup, July 30, 2023);
  • Julio Enciso (Brighton – Manchester City, English Premier League, May 24, 2023);
  • Kang Sung Jin (Jordan U-20 – South Korea U-20, Asian U20 Cup, 5 March 2023);
  • Sam Kerr (Australia – England, Women’s World Cup, 16 August 2023);
  • Brian Lozano (Atlas – America, Mexican Championship, February 26, 2023);
  • Guilherme Madruga (Novorizontino – Botafogo SP, Brazilian Serie B, June 27, 2023);
  • Ivan Morante (Ibiza – Burgos, Segunda, March 25, 2023);
  • Nuno Santos (Sporting – Boavista, Primeira Liga, 12 March 2023);
  • Askhat Tagybergen (Kazakhstan – Denmark, Euro 2024 qualifying matches, March 26, 2023);
  • Beatrice Zaneratto (Brazil – Panama, Women’s World Cup, July 24, 2023).

Earlier, FIFA announced a list of 12 players vying for the title of best player of the year. The nominees for the title of best coach and best goalkeeper of 2023 were also presented.
