Athletistic/Others. The Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) has not yet fulfilled the necessary conditions to restore its status, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) said in a statement.

At the end of 2019, WADA declared RUSADA non-compliant with the world anti-doping code, therefore Russian athletes were banned from participating in major international competitions under the flag of their country and from using other national symbols for four years. RUSADA did not accept this decision and appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which reduced the sentence to two years.

A meeting of the WADA executive committee was held in Shanghai on Friday.

— The Executive Committee received an update regarding the CAS decision of December 2020 on RUSADA’s non-compliance with the code for two years. After the expiration of the sanctions, WADA evaluates and monitors the activities of RUSADA to ensure compliance with all conditions for reinstatement set out in the CAS decision.

Until all conditions for restoration are met, consideration of the issue of restoration of the status of RUSADA is impossible. Furthermore, RUSADA will not have the right to restore its rights in accordance with the CAS decision until the inconsistencies related to national legislation are eliminated, the press release emphasizes.

  • Russia must make mandatory contribution to WADA budget by end of 2023
