Recently, WADA made new accusations against RUSADA, claiming that the agency did not meet the conditions for reinstatement because the World Anti-Doping Code had not been transposed into national law. WADA proposed a set of sanctions that will take effect 21 days from the date of notification if RUSADA does not correct the violations or appeal. If RUSADA does not accept the charges and goes to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), WADA’s sanctions will only take effect once the court has issued a decision.
“The flag of the Russian Federation will not fly at the regional, continental and world championships. The flag of the Russian Federation will not fly at the Olympic and Paralympic Games until the conditions for its restoration are met,” said the AMA in a press release.
Furthermore, WADA proposed to deprive Russia of the right to host on its territory world competitions organized by major sports federations (such as the International Skating Union, the International Fencing Federation). Additionally, RUSADA representatives will be prohibited from attending WADA meetings, holding positions in an international organization and jointly organizing events.
