Michael Andlauer paid $950 million for the franchise
Board of Governors National Hockey League (NHL) unanimously approved the sale Ottawa Senators.
Businessman becomes Ottawa’s new owner Michael Andlauerwho paid for the NHL franchise $950 million. This is a record deal in the history of the League.
Ottawa was put up for sale in November 2022 after the death of former franchise owner Eugene Melnyk, a Ukrainian-born Canadian businessman. Melnyk’s daughters, Anna and Olivia, retained a 10% stake in the Senators.
The Senators haven’t made the playoffs since 2017. The new NHL season starts on the night of October 10-11.
