Athletistic/Others. According to data from the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) handed down convictions in 218 cases, leading to sanctions for those who violated anti-doping rules. As noted in a WADA press release, another 63 cases are under investigation.

At the end of 2019, WADA recognized the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) as non-compliant with global anti-doping standards. Russian athletes were not allowed to participate in major international competitions under the national flag and symbols for four years. RUSADA challenged this decision before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which resulted in the sentence being reduced to two years. The sanctions were lifted in mid-December 2022.

On Friday, September 22, WADA announced that until all conditions for reinstatement were met, it would be impossible to consider reinstating RUSADA.
