The president of the All-Russian Swimming Federation hopes to resolve contradictions with World Aquatics regarding the admission of Russians without trial

President of the All-Russian Swimming Federation Vladimir Salnikov On the air of the program “There is a topic” on , he said that he hoped to resolve the contradictions with World Aquatics regarding the admission of Russians to competitions without going to court.

Previously it became known that the World Aquatics statement invited Russian athletes claiming neutral status to indicate the existence of contracts with military departments and to indicate whether any statements were made about the situation in Ukraine, including on the networks social. In the statement, obtained by , athletes are asked to accept World Aquatics’ eligibility criteria, based on recommendations from the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Admission is carried out only in individual events, where one person competes, there is a ban on communication with the media and a limit on the number of people declared in a discipline for neutral status.

— As for the trial, we are considering different options. It is not excluded. But we do not yet rule out common sense in the form of correspondence and consultations with World Aquatics. We use every method available to ensure our athletes can perform overall. When that will happen, I can’t say.

The situation of aquatic species is different everywhere. Water polo players suffered more than others. They have almost no chance, as a team sport. As for diving, nine out of 10 athletes are under contract with Dynamo or CSKA. This does not allow them to make a sports selection.

In general, such sports selection is forgotten and does not affect anything. Hypothetically, a person without merit could enter the competition if they follow the procedure and the committee decides that they are eligible. But the federation of such an athlete will neither encourage nor stop him. The person himself is responsible for his actions.

— How much does all this cost in terms of money?

– No one will say the amount now. We must approach it in a consolidated manner with other federations. Now everything is in the development phase. Maybe we’ll talk about it a little later.

— The number of our athletes who can participate in competitions is about one percent? And you have no influence over them?

– Yes, it’s true. But I don’t know such people,” Salnikov said on .

At the end of March, the IOC also announced recommendations for the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions. Recommendations include individual admission, neutral status, banning participation in team sports, and banning the participation of athletes associated with security forces or who have expressed support for the SVO.
