Former world light heavyweight champion Alexander Gvozdyk stated that after the fight with the Brazilian Isaac Rodriguez ready to meet in the ring with the leaders of his division and representatives of Russia – the WBA champion Dmitry Bivol and holder of WBC/WBO/IBF titles Artur Beterbiev.
“Right now I am one hundred percent focused on my next opponent, Isaac Rodriguez. I believe that I will win this fight. Right after this I want to fight the best. I want to fight Bivol and Beterbiev, I’m ready for them. If I can’t fight with them, then I’m ready to fight with Buatsi, Aziz and the others,” Gvozdyk emphasized.
Earlier, WBC Ukraine President Nikolai Kovalchuk said that “the war in Ukraine became a catalyst for Gvozdyk to resume his career as a professional boxer.” Kovalchuk expressed confidence that the fundamental point for Alexander is to take the belts from “representatives of our enemy” Bivol and Beterbiev.
36-year-old Gvozdyk will fight his next fight against Brazilian Rodriguez on September 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas (USA) on the undercard of the fight between undisputed super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and undisputed super middleweight champion Jermell Charlo .
The Ukrainian himself stated that his next goal is a rematch with Artur Beterbiev. In October 2019, Gvozdyk lost to Beterbiev in a unification fight for the IBF and WBC light heavyweight belts.
Gvozdyk fought his last fight in May. The Ukrainian knocked out Latvian boxer Richards Bolotniks in the 6th round, achieving his second victory after resuming his career.
