Athletistic/ Figure skating. Tatarstan Sports Minister Vladimir Leonov said a figure skating school named after Olympic champion Alina Zagitova is expected to open at the Kazan Sports Palace in early 2024.
A search for land for the construction of a separate facility is currently underway.
“Nothing is working yet, we are only at the beginning of the journey. Now we are forming a school, it will be operational from the beginning of the year,” Leonov is quoted as saying by TASS.
Zagitova is the 2018 Olympic champion, world and European champion.
Currently, Russian figure skaters are suspended from international tournaments.
