Olympic handball champion Anna Vyakhireva decided to leave “Rostov-Don”, to try his hand at a new team, according to the club’s official website.
Vyakhireva has been playing for Rostov-Don since 2016. In her roster, the 27-year-old handball player, playing at the right welterweight position, won the Russian championship five times, and also became the five-time winner of the Cup and Super Country Cup.
– From the bottom of my heart, I want to express my deep gratitude to the wonderful club where I spent six wonderful years of my career: to all the staff and the team with whom we have come a long way. There were tears of joy from victories and bitterness from defeat.
Of course, I thank those without whom all this wouldn’t make sense, those who have always been there – our fans. You’re the one who got us going, don’t turn away no matter what. Thanks! It is time to move on. I’m not saying goodbye, but I’m saying goodbye to you. You are forever in my heart! said Vyakhireva.
The handball player after the Tokyo Olympics took a career break. As a member of the Russian national team, Vyakhireva won gold at the 2016 Olympics and silver at the Tokyo Games, she was recognized as the most valuable player at both Olympic tournaments.
