Olympic figure skating champion Dmitry Solovyov spoke about the consequences of the attack on him in the center of Moscow.
Soloviev was beaten on December 21, 2021 in Moscow when he defended two-time European curling champion Anna Sidorova. The incident happened on the street – the athlete defended his girlfriend when three strangers tried to attack them.
– How is your health? Nothing worries you after this unpleasant story?
“There are a number of other issues,” Soloviev told . “I stuttered for four months and I didn’t give interviews, I didn’t say anything for social media, I didn’t record videos, I didn’t go on TV channels. This worried me a lot and even embarrassed me – exceptionally, I had never stuttered before.Four months I worked with a man.
Many people who have experienced this kind of trauma have written to me. A girl wrote that her husband had stuttered for four years, then it was over. It scared me, four years is a long time, I didn’t want to lose the opportunity to speak normally. Now, thank God, nothing. There are problems, but everything will pass. It takes a year to pass – then we can draw conclusions.
– Have you had any training?
– Yes, I worked with a woman specializing in speech problems acquired as a result of psychological or physical trauma. She gave me very interesting advice. For example, you had to pay as little attention as possible to stuttering and try to make sure people didn’t notice it. I had to warn others not to focus on that. Now I feel like I even started talking faster (smiles).
