“Diana and Gleb, under their coach Alexei Kilyakov, appeared at the town rink in Little Falls, New Jersey, before U.S. Judge Sean Rettstat. This was not a skating test in the accepted sense in Russia. United States,” a source close to the situation said in an interview with RIA Novosti Sport.
On June 29, reports emerged that Davis and Smolkin would be considered by the US Figure Skating Association (USFS) to further change sports citizenship and move to Team USA. On June 30, the skaters themselves issued an appeal in which they declared that they were athletes of the Russian national team and were looking forward to the start of the competitive season.
