The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine has again called for the complete removal of Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions.
According to the head of the department Vadim Gutzeit, he made such an appeal during the Summit, which was attended by representatives of sports ministries from around the world.
“Russians and Belarusians have no place next to the representatives of the civilized world – either in sports arenas, or in sports organizations, or in the decision -making process. Ukraine has insisted on a full ban on sanctions. .
In their silence, Russian and Belarusian athletes supported the war in Ukraine, which has already killed more than 80 Ukrainian athletes and coaches, and destroyed more than 100 sports infrastructure facilities. How much more do we have to lose?
Unfortunately, some federations are trying to bring the Russians back to international competitions: judo, bobsleigh, skeleton. Ukraine, like all civilized states, considers this unacceptable. They should be banned from flying under neutral flags.
Military aggression is our common challenge. To stop this, we must be principled and united, ”Gutzeit wrote.
Recall that earlier Ukrainian judoists announced a boycott of the international federation due to the entry of Russian athletes in competitions.
