Efimova on the results of the women’s breaststroke at the World Championships: we swim faster in the Czech Republic, apparently they can’t live without us

Triple Olympic medalist in swimming Julia Efimova said she was inspired by the results of the 2022 women’s breaststroke World Cup, which turned out to be even slower than the time with which she won seven years ago in Kazan.

Efimova won the World Championships in Kazan with a score of 1 minute 05.66 seconds (100m breaststroke). Italy’s Benedetta Pilato won the World Championships in Budapest in 1:05.93. Lilly King won the 200m breaststroke in Budapest in 2:22.41. This result would not even allow him to enter the top 5 of the Tokyo Games.

– At first I was overwhelmed by the time of the girls, which they showed at the World Championships, and then inspired. I haven’t seen such a moment for a long time. I remember how I won in Kazan with a score of 1:05.5 and I remember how upset I was, I didn’t even understand how it happened at all. We swim faster at the Russian Championships and the 200m final ends faster than at the World Championships in Budapest. Apparently, they can’t do without us at all, there are no irritants that make them swim faster,” Yefimova said.
