Norwegian, five-time Olympic champion Johannes Klebo was invited to train with the Swedish team, said the skier’s father, Haakon Klebo.
Previously, Klebo turned down a place on the Norwegian national team and went to self-fund and train with a personal trainer. On Friday it became known that the nine-time world champion had reached an agreement with the national team.
“They had a plane ticket and a hotel ready for Johannes. Anders Byström, manager of the Swedish national team, called us. He said that Johannes could join them at the Livigno training camp and that he would train with William Poromaa. I think we should be open to training with skiers from other countries, including Sweden,” Aftonbladet quoted Håkon Klebo as saying.
The first stage of the Cross-Country Skiing World Cup will take place in Ruka, Finland, from November 24-26.
