Krasyuk: After the fight between Usyk and Fury there will be a defense of the IBF belt or a vacation of the title

A potential rematch with the Briton could take place without one belt

Alexander Krasyukpromoter of the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Alexandra Usikadoes not rule out the possibility that the Ukrainian will have to give up the IBF belt after the fight with the WBC champion Tyson Fury.

“As for Zhang Zhilei, the WBO interim champion, there is a rotation system for the unified champion. The next IBF mandatory challenger is Filip Hrgovic. After the fight with Fury there will be a defense of the IBF belt or a title vacation. This is what usually happens in boxing.”

“The main thing now is that we are closer to the undisputed championship. We signed the contract and the deal took place. We have the right Saudi people behind it all. We have Fury and we have Usyk. Both guys are ready to fight and happy.”

At the end of September, Usyk and Fury signed a contract to fight for the undisputed heavyweight title. It was reported that the fight is planned to take place on December 23 or January 2024 in Saudi Arabia. It is planned that the exact date of the event will be announced after the fight between the “Gypsy King” and Francis Ngannou.

According to British heavyweight Dereck Chisora, the unification fight will take place in December if Tyson is not injured in the fight with Ngannou.

The contract for the undisputed heavyweight title between Usyk and Fury contains a rematch clause. The clause applies to both boxers; the loser can initiate a re-fight.
