The Briton said that his training camp before the fight with Francis Ngannou took 12 weeks instead of the usual six
WBC World Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury spoke about his preparation for the fight with the former UFC heavyweight world champion Francis Ngannou.
“I will try to knock out Ngannou. If the knockout comes in the first round, then I will knock him out in the first round. But it’s not scary if the knockout happens later. We must not forget that we have a ten-round fight. Ten rounds of three minutes, plus 25 seconds of rest between them,” Fury joked in an interview with British boxer Dereck Chisora.
“I’ve been training for 12 weeks now. Typically I prepare for 5-6 weeks, but I haven’t fought since December last year. “I lost 150 pounds (68 kilograms) in four weeks just by following the keto diet.”
Fury’s fight with Ngannou will take place on October 28 in Saudi Arabia. A special Riyadh championship belt will be at stake in the fight.
After the fight with Ngannou, the Briton will fight with Ukrainian Alexander Usik for the title of absolute heavyweight champion. The exact date of the fight between Usik and Fury will depend on Tyson’s health following the fight with Francis.
