Donetsk Shakhtar – by an incredible margin, the most successful Ukrainian club of the 21st century in terms of earnings on the transfer market. For 23 years, Miners, according to the specialized portal Transfermarkt, excluding leases received 106 million euros in profit from transfer activities. This is 5.5 times more than the second Ukrainian club in terms of this indicator – Zari, whose transfer profit amounted to 18.7 million euros. In third place is the Carpathians with earnings of 15.6 million euros.
Let us note that Dynamo in the 21st century has a transfer minus of 2.6 million euros. But even more impressive are the indicators of the deceased Dnepr, which lost 69 million euros on transfers. 4 million loss – indicators of Metalist’s transfer balance.
At the same time, we note that the miners spent the most in Ukraine. Over 23 years, almost 427 million euros were spent on acquiring new players. Over the same period, Dynamo allocated almost 290 million euros for transfers. In third place is the already mentioned Dnieper – 101.6 million.
The top 5 in terms of expenses also included Metalist – 72.6 million, and the also defunct Donetsk Metallurg – 21.79 million. The remaining Ukrainian clubs in the 21st century have not spent more than 10 million euros on transfers.
But even Shakhtar’s expenses, fantastic by Ukrainian standards, pale in comparison to the world ones. For example, Chelsea spent almost $3.5 billion on acquiring new players in the 21st century. Manchester City – 2.75 billion, Manchester United – 2.43 billion.
22 clubs in the world have spent more than a billion dollars on new players over 23 years – Everton closes the list of “billionaires” with 1.09 billion. Shakhtar ranks 60th on this list, behind, for example, Sassuolo, Udinese, Parma and Rennes. Dynamo is in 87th position in terms of transfer spending in the 21st century, having spent less than Bruges, Norwich, Celtic, Stoke City, Middlesbrough and Nice.
Benfica earned the most money from transfers in the 21st century. Anatoly Trubin’s current club boasts a profit of almost 668 million euros, which is almost five million more than second-place Porto. Ajax earned almost 591 million euros in net profit from transfers. At the same time, we note that each of the three above-mentioned clubs has sold players more than a billion euros over 23 years: 1.52 billion for Benfica, 1.4 billion for Porto, 1.26 billion for Ajax.
