Athletistic/Mountaineering. The body of Russian mountaineer Nadezhda Oleneva, who died in Nepal, will not be found. This information was confirmed by the head coach of the Russian mountaineering team Pavel Shabalin.

“Unfortunately, there is no encouraging news,” Shabalin noted in an interview with RIA Novosti. – Following the avalanche, everything was buried. The snow turned into ice. Now nothing can be done. Nadezhda’s body ended up in a deep layer of ice. The helicopter cannot land on the slope and it is currently impossible to approach it on foot. There are cracks a hundred meters deep.

On October 15, rescuers were able to notice the athlete’s silhouette from a helicopter. However, harsh weather conditions prevented the landing and recovery of the body.

The tragedy occurred at around 6,680 meters above sea level. Due to bad weather, the body of 37-year-old Oleneva ended up under a thick layer of snow, which significantly complicated the search process.
