Ilya confidently beat the second racket of the tournament, Australian Walton, in the quarter finals
Ukrainian tennis player Ilya Marchenko continues its victorious march through the tournament ATP Challenger Tour 50 in German Hamburg.
Ilya did not experience any great difficulties in the confrontation with second seeded Adam Walton from Australia, who is located 69 positions higher in the ATP rankings. It took the Ukrainian one hour and 18 minutes to win in two sets and reach the semifinals.
The first set developed interestingly. At some point, Walton led 3:1, but Marchenko soon bounced back on someone else’s serve, and then, with the score 5:4, made the decisive break. The second game showed an even more clear advantage of the Ukrainian tennis player – 6:1.
This victory was Ilya’s 7th in his last eight fights. Let us remind you that in Hamburg Marchenko started the Ukrainian derby, beating Alexey Krutykh. In the second round, he defeated the Turk Altug Celikbilek with some difficulty.
Our compatriot will challenge the right to reach the final with the representative of Great Britain, Billy Harris.
