Leclerc wins pole position at the US Grand Prix

The last fastest lap of the current champion Max Verstappen was not counted for exceeding the track limits

Ferrari pilot Charles Leclerc won pole for US Grand Prix.

The Monegasque took the lead after passing the decisive qualifying segment for the first time. In his last attempt, he managed to improve the result by another 0.2 second – 1 minute 34.723 seconds.

Second place went to Lando Norris in a McLaren, 0.13 seconds behind the winner. The second row of the starting grid for the race will be occupied by Lewis Hamilton and Carlos Sainz.

Reigning world champion Max Verstappen was in contention for pole position but overshot the track in the penultimate corner of his final attempt. The Dutchman’s lap result was not counted; the Red Bull driver remained in sixth position.

On Saturday, the US Grand Prix is ​​scheduled for qualifying for the sprint race, followed by the sprint itself. The main race of the weekend will take place on Sunday, October 22.
