The Olympic champion defeated compatriot Komashchuk in the final
Team Ukraine won two main awards at the FIE Satellite Series tournament saber fencingwhich takes place in Turkish Istanbul.
Olympic champion Olga Kharlan started the new Olympic season with a gold medal. The famous Ukrainian won six fights in the group, after which she triumphantly advanced through the playoffs. In the final, Olga met with her compatriot Alina Komashchuk – and won with a score of 15:8.
Thus, Ukraine received a double podium at the Istanbul tournament, winning two top awards at once.
Let us remind you that Olga Kharlan (2008 Olympic champion in team saber, Olympic medalist in 2012 and 2016) received a license for the 2024 Olympic Games after a scandal at the 2023 World Championships. Then the Ukrainian was disqualified after defeating the Russian Anna Smirnova, whose hand Olga refused to shake.
In October, Kharlan, along with tennis player Elina Svitolina and track and field athlete Yaroslava Maguchikh, became the face of the fall issue of Vogue Ukraine magazine.
