Figure skaters Mishina and Gallyamov admitted anxiety affected their performance in the short program at the Russian Grand Prix

Figure skaters Anastasia Mishina and Alexander Gallyamov, participating in the pair competitions, said that during the short program of the stage of the Russian Grand Prix in Omsk, they were worried, this affected the quality of execution of the elements.

On Saturday, Mishina and Gallyamov won the short program at the Russian Grand Prix in Omsk, scoring 73.50 points. The partner made a mistake by performing a parallel jump.

— Anastasia Mishina (AM): There was excitement, it touched our elements. Starting a season is always difficult. We are happy to skate in front of the spectators, they give us strength.

— Alexander Gallyamov (AG): After the skate tests, we refined our programs and changed the music in certain places, for example in the court. The presentation of the programs was modified, we tried to find the details that needed to be improved.

— AG: The season had to start. It wasn’t easy, as the rental showed. But overall everything is fine, we will prepare tomorrow. We are happy to have been able to perform with total dedication to choreography and costumes. There is nothing to complain about in Omsk. Everything is fine, everyone is happy. The dimensions of the Canadian ice are 26 by 60 meters, but we were preparing for that. Additionally, in the training arena there is standard ice. When we were training, we were happy that everything was so familiar, but we understood that it was different in the main arena.

– AM: The most important thing is that the arena is big, there are a lot of spectators.

— AG: What happened during the parallel jump? The 2020 Russian Championship took place. I can say this didn’t happen during training. The last time this happened was during the 2020 Russian Championship. Then the same mistake happened in the court. I was in a hurry and didn’t drive in an arc. “I will pay more attention to it in the future,” reports the correspondent according to the skaters’ words.

The duos will present their free program on Sunday.
