American figure skater Ilya Malinin became the winner of the first stage of the ISU Grand Prix of the 2023/24 season – Skate America, which takes place in Allen (Texas).
Malinin, who was in the lead after the short program, also won the free program, scoring 206.41 points. Based on the results of two skates, the 18-year-old skater earned 310.47 points. The Frenchman takes second place Kevin Aymoz (279.09), third – Japanese Sung Sato (247.50).
Malinin was born in the United States to the family of Russian figure skaters Tatyana Malinina and Roman Skornyakov. They performed at union and Russian tournaments, and then represented Uzbekistan.
