The Ukrainian national volleyball team will replace disqualified Russia in the 2022 World Cup

The Ukrainian team will replace the Russian team, which has no right to participate in international tournaments under the auspices of the FIVB and CEV.

The Ukrainian men’s volleyball team will perform at the 2022 World Championship. There, our team will replace Russia, which was disqualified due to the military invasion of Ukraine. This has been reported Volleyball Federation of Ukraine.

Recall that the contest was supposed to be held in 10 cities of Russia, but it was moved to Poland and Slovenia for the same reasons.

“The administration of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has come to the conclusion that it is impossible to prepare and host the World Championship in Russia due to the war in Ukraine. Accordingly, it has decided to remove the right to host the prestigious tournament from Russia, “said the organization in a statement.

The FIVB also announced that Russian national teams will not participate in international competitions under the auspices of the FIVB and the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV).

On Thursday, April 14, HVU GO President Mikhail Melnik received a letter from the FIVB informing that Ukraine will play in the 2022 World Cup instead of Russia. The letter says that the draw procedure will not be repeated and Ukraine will replace Russia in group A under the first seeded number.

Thus, Serbia, Tunisia and Puerto Rico will be rivals of Ugis Krastinsh’s districts.
