Maksimov: For us, this is the fourth game to zero, and God grant that it continues like this

The mentor of Dnepr-1 commented on the important victory over a team that was not a stranger to him

Head coach SK Dnepr-1 Yuri Maksimov — about the away victory over Dynamo in the 11th round Ukrainian Premier League.

“For Sarapiya, the yellow card was the fourth and he will miss the next match. In addition, we replaced Gutsulyak, especially since the guy, as they say, was already “fed up.” I don’t want to say that in the second half we played to maintain the score, but we played primarily in such a way as to maintain this result. If we won, it means we did everything right.”

“Comments on the performance of the central defenders? But what are the comments when we play the fourth match in a row to zero? God grant that this continues. We won, and I want to thank all the guys for this victory. This is the most important thing for us at the moment.”

“I once played for Dynamo, and this is not a strange team for me, and I always wanted to win it – this is a double motivation for me.”

“It’s difficult for me to say now how the team will conduct this series [гостевых матчей] physically, because we didn’t go through a training camp together. Therefore, I still don’t fully understand the current state of the team. But I have assistants who tell me exactly how to train the guys.”

“To those guys who give their all on the field, I am very grateful to them for that. There are no complaints against anyone. I understand them all, especially since some of them just played for the national team, but everyone treated this match with great responsibility. This is the most important thing, and I repeat that for us this is the fourth clean sheet, and God grant that it continues like this.”

“We replaced Gutsulyak, who had a yellow card and who could have made a wrong tackle somewhere and received a second one, and besides this match, he would also miss the next one. In addition, the opponent released the active Dubinchak. who is the engine of the team. We had to block it, and Tanchik dealt with it and played very well in defense.”

Let us remind you that Dnepr-1 beat Dynamo in Kyiv with a minimal score thanks to an early goal by Alexei Gutsulyak. For the first time, the Kiev team failed to score in the current championship.

Dnepr-1 conceded the fewest goals in the UPL – five goals. Maksimov’s team played their last four matches to zero, just shortly after Yuri’s appointment as head coach.

When he was a football player, Maksimov played, in particular, for Dnepr Dnepropetrovsk (1992 – 1994) and Dynamo Kiev (1994 – 1997).

Thanks to this victory, Dnepr-1 scored 18 points, overtook Dynamo and moved to sixth position. On October 25, in the postponed match of the first round of the Ukrainian championship, Maksimov’s team will play with Vorskla.
