On Sunday, the Kostornaya/Kunitsa duo presented a free program during the stage of the Russian Grand Prix in Omsk, obtaining 124.71 points for it. The total of the two performances was 192.77 points, the duo took fourth place.

— How do you judge these two days?

– Certainly not.

– And on a five-point scale?

– Zero.

– What exactly are you unhappy about?

– Everyone.

— I am not satisfied with the way our work was evaluated. He was flushed down the toilet. Like that. Yes, in the free program it was not possible to show what was planned. And in the morning there was a very decent performance, probably one of the strongest at this stage. But unfortunately, there is apparently not enough for two such rentals in one day. We will have to work on it.

But the way our work was killed. We listened, prepared, trained. The way this was evaluated leaves a lot to be desired, it destroys all emotions, all positive attitude.

— Does it make you angry and motivate you to continue, or does it kill you?

– No, it’s just an objective understanding of how my favorite sport periodically drowns in a swamp. In a stupid and irrevocable way. I won’t say why exactly, but that’s how it is.

– Is there an explanation for this?

– The world is cruel. Everyone tries to find benefits for themselves. It’s true, that’s how it should be done. But there is also a sporting principle that contradicts this. Due to what is currently happening in general, I have no further comments.

— Are you ready to continue working in conditions where there is no adequate loyalty to you?

– No loyalty. I seek justice. Yes, I will work, Gosha will work, we will work together. Because figure skating is above all work with the public. You should completely abstract yourself from the evaluative moments and places obtained at this stage. We will go out and delight the audience. First of all, I ride for them.

— Are you satisfied with the way you received it?

– Yes. This is a huge plus against the background of all this minus.

— There is a debate: why should you put high components? You’re not wound up, new to the judges.

— I don’t know all the components, but there are distinct criteria – skating skills, for example. Never in my life will I believe that I skate worse than other athletes. Unfortunately, that’s how it was rated. I understand that there is a different assessment here, pair work is assessed. But I won’t say that Gosha skates less well. Collectively, we are definitely not left out on this criterion, in terms of execution and interpretation of the program.

“When you came here, wasn’t this what you expected?

— I expected a lot of things, but with clean performances, not that. I could admit that we would screw it up, that we wouldn’t finish it, that something could go wrong. Even if you do the same thing for 12 years, there may be breakdowns. But when we’re almost getting the most out of our content – yes, there were mistakes – but it couldn’t have been better. Whereas with a worse performance, we are rated pretty well, but with a performance twice as good, they tell us: “And this one was worse than the last one”… Well, I don’t know”, reports the correspondent. words of the skaters.
