Arum: Fury’s fight with Usik is entirely the merit of the Saudi Prince Turki

At stake in the fight is the title of absolute world champion in heavyweight

Promoter Bob Arum stated that holding a fight between the holder of the WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO titles Alexander Usik and WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury directly depends on the merits of the Saudi prince Turks of Al ash-Sheikh.

“I think it’s entirely down to Prince Turki and his organization that I was able to make this fight happen. This is a serious man who directly controls the state fund for entertainment purposes in Saudi Arabia. So the fighters knew that once they signed the contract, the money would come and they wouldn’t have to deal with middlemen.”

“As soon as Prince Turki appeared on the horizon, I was convinced that this fight would take place. Based on the experience of organizing the Tyson vs. Ngannou fight, when he signed the contract, most of the fee immediately went into his bank account.”

“So it was serious, it was great for the prince’s business, so I was confident that this fight would happen as soon as he decided that this was the fight that Saudi Arabia wanted to make.”

Usik and Fury signed a contract to fight for the absolute title in the heavyweight category – this became known in September. The fight is planned to take place on December 23 or January 2024 in Saudi Arabia. It is planned that the exact date of the event will be announced after the fight between the “Gypsy King” and Ngannou, which is scheduled for October 28.
